Grief and Bereavement Counselling
Grief can affect us in many different ways. Alongside sadness, you may experience anger, guilt, anxiety, numbness, relief or a sense that life has changed in ways you weren’t prepared for. There is no single right way to grieve, and loss does not follow a predictable timetable.
I work with adults and young people experiencing bereavement and other significant losses. Therapy offers a safe, compassionate and non-judgemental space to talk openly about the person or life you have lost, make sense of difficult or conflicting feelings and explore how the loss is affecting you now.
I also support people experiencing anticipatory grief, where a loved one has received a life-limiting diagnosis, as well as those coping with traumatic bereavement, sudden loss, suicide, or losses that others may not fully recognise, such as infertility, miscarriage or estrangement.
Together, we can explore the emotional, psychological and practical impact of your loss. Therapy may help you navigate major life changes, understand complicated or delayed grief, and explore how your experience is affecting your identity, relationships, anxiety, depression or sense of purpose.
As an integrative psychotherapist, I tailor therapy to you, drawing on approaches including attachment theory, CBT, mindfulness, compassion-focused therapy and existential therapy where appropriate.
Grief therapy is not about trying to make you “move on” or leave someone behind. Instead, we can work towards finding ways to live with what has happened while maintaining a meaningful connection with the person or life you have lost.
I offer grief and bereavement counselling in East Grinstead, as well as online therapy, where you can explore your grief at your own pace.
